Saturday. Our Surfie is safe!

  1. Mornin' deer Pond Family. Thank you for your love and prayers. I didn't really sleep last night. Dozed off at some point until the loudest clap of thunder I've ever heard jolted me awake about an hour ago. I nearly fell off the couch!

All my family and friends are safe. The storm dumped debris and dirt at my sister's house. She has roof damage, and her swimming pool looks like a mud hole.

That was really scary. OKC is clearing out, but the storm stretches all the way up to the Great Lakes and is marching east across the country. Now, we pray for everyone in its path.

Love you all. Thank you so much for keeping me and everyone in your hearts and prayers.

  2. Good Morning Deer Surfie,
Your family and friends are safe! That is wonderful news. Even if there wasn't tornado damage, the relentless rain has flooded everything. From the weather scan this was a slow-moving storm. I checked many times last evening, and it was still sitting over OKC. St. Louis had a tornado, too, from the same storm.

I haven't checked the storms progress yet this morning, but it looks like one of the worst I've seen.

It's still quiet at my house (now that I've fed Wolfie!). I just had to get up and check on you. I'll be back in a little while.

  3. My office is due east from the airport. 1,000 people at the airport were evacuated to underground.

My office building is still standing. The owner, his wife and baby son, his MIL, and a lot of fellow workers came back to the office and went into our underground storm shelter. All are safe.

I knew it was going to be bad when I left work yesterday. The temp went up to about 90, the air was so humid that it was hard to breathe, the wind was about 30 mph.

The sky is clearing now. It will be calm and sunny until Tuesday. Rain is in the forecast for every day next week.

  6. Gloria, how are you doing? Did you have the procedure yesterday? With all the storm activity in Surfie's neighborhood, I forgot to check on you. Hope all went smoothly.

  7. Hi Ponders. I checked in last night and read all your posts. Surfie, you and your friends family and all Oklahomans were on my heart yesterday. OKLAHOMA STRONG! Our Surfhut is safe!

One thing troubles me though. I understand that storm chasers gather a lot of valuable information but some seem to be thrill seekers who take unnecessary chances. We all want information about what is going on. The media uses these tragic events for ratings. They ask stupid questions and intrude on private moments when people are mourning huge losses. My heart aches.

Froggy, my procedure went well but I will be having a small folow up surgery as soon as I can schedule it. Anesthesia wipes me out. I came home and slept for several hours.

Eva, I saw what you wrote about your sister's husband. I had a hunch about her having an income that he wants. I have used my secret tavern words and called him every name I can think of.

    1. Now that's funny Gloria using her secret tavern words. My face is red with embarrassment. Hehe.

    2. Ya gotta love those "secret tavern" words! I've got a few myself.. but don't want Phooey's face to get any redder.

Gloria so glad that your procedure went well. Keep us updated.

    3. Tell us how you're doing, Gloria and how soon you're going to get the results. I was thinking about you yesterday and should've given you a hey-y'all on the board... You're a good kid for getting it done!

    4. Hi sweetie, I do have to go back for a small follow up surgery. I will do it as soon as can be scheduled to get it over with.

  8. Well, here's some more drama. While my father and niece have been gone, I've been calling my sister more often to "take up the slack". I called this morning at the time I told her I would and got no answer. Strange, but she could have been in the bathroom or gone to the soda machine for a minute. I called back in a couple of minutes. No answer. Another call and still no answer. It finally dawned on me to call the motel office and see if I could get someone to go to her room and see if she was hurt and unable to get to the phone or if she was gone. I had just identified myself when the desk clerk told me that she had gone to the hospital. He said she called him and said she was expecting me to call and to please tell me what happened. He said she then called 911 and the ambulance came and took her away!

Well, he didn't know where they took her, but luckily our town only has 2 hospitals. Anyway, I found her in the ER. The very nice woman at the desk told me she had a seizure and the doctor had just gone in to see her. She took my number and said she'd have my sister call me when she could. She called an hour & a half later and said they took blood and was waiting for the results. She had an awful headache and felt very weak & dizzy.

She was there for about 6 hours while they regulated her meds and they sent her home. I'm sure stress brought it on. Stress and knowing family was out of town and no one else knows where she is. So much for my thinking that calling more often would make up for her being alone. I emailed my niece (against my sister's wishes) just so that she & my dad would know what happened before they got back tomorrow. I told her that she was fine and not to worry.

Poor thing is exhausted and I keep calling her to make sure she's okay. I promised not to call again until tomorrow morning. She sounds stronger, thank goodness, and asked if there was any news on the whereabouts of the "a--hole stalker" aka her husband. See? Those tavern words are everywhere!

Thanks for checking in, Gloria. I hope your follow-up surgery really is small and easily recovered from.

  9. Gloria, thanks for checking back with us. You know Ponders have to know that everything is okay.

OMG, Eva...You must have been in such a panic when you couldn't find your sister. You and your family really take such good care of her and must love her so much. She'll be okay with all of you watching over her.

    Goodnight Deer Pond Family,
Froggy and I are watching a scary movie on TV. Called "The Ruins." Should be a good distraction.

  10. Eva, I can't imagine what you went through before you found where she was. She sounds like a very strong woman, to have gone through that alone and still spit out some tavern words.
